Virat Kohli Makes A Big Stride In ICC Men’s Rankings

There were thoughts in everyone’s mind if we have seen the best of Virat Kohli already with no energy left in his tank to give record breaking performances. But proving everyone wrong, Kohli has elevated his game to another level in past two three months.

During home series against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli reminded everyone of his pinnacle performance. He amassed 283 runs in three matches with two big centuries, all in a winning cause.

With his phenomenal batting performance, he made a big jump in ICC Men’s ODI player rankings. However, Babar Azam remains at top with 887 points despite struggle against New Zealand. At the second place, Rassie Van der Dussen is stated with 766 points and below him is his Proteas teammate Quinton de Kock with 759 points.

Both haven’t played any ODI cricket in recent times and will be on track to feature in some ODI games against England. Virat Kohli has the third place within his reach if he can go big against New Zealand in remaining two matches.

On two occasions, Virat Kohli failed to score big runs but his current form affirms that it will not long time to see another match winning knock from his bat.

Virat Kohli Is Not The Only Indian Player To Make Big Jumps In The Rankings

India is having a remarkable home season so Virat Kohli isn’t the only player to make a big jump in ICC Men’s Player rankings. Shubman Gill has made his case strong for opening spot with back to back class innings.

During the three match series against Sri Lanka, Gill scored 207 runs at an average of 69 with one century and one half century. Now against New Zealand, he has scored a magnificent double century which has improved his average to over 90.

On basis on this performance, the Indian opener made a big jump in ICC Men’s OdI rankings, and currently holds 26th position. The way he’s batting, it will not take much time to him to break in top 10 position.

However, Siraj, a 28-year-old bowler, makes the most notable rise, rising 15 ranks to third on the list of ODI bowlers as a result of his nine series-high wickets.

Siraj increases to a career-best rating of 685 points to cut the gap on pacesetters Trent Boult (730) and Josh Hazlewood (727). During that series, no bowler took more wickets than him.

Kuldeep was promoted seven spots to 21st on the most recent list of bowlers in recognition of his five wickets in just two games against Sri Lanka.
