Despite a five-wicket loss to Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super Four match in Dubai on Sunday, India are set to make a comeback against Sri Lanka. The most encouraging aspect, of course, was Virat Kohli’s half-century as the former India captain’s 44-ball 60 helped India set a target of 182 against Pakistan.

After coming into Sunday’s clash in the team’s last two matches with two useful innings against Pakistan and Hong Kong, it was no big surprise to see Kohli scoring runs again.

Talking to reporters at the post-match press conference, Virat Kohli’s spilled pain, he told his Test captaincy. Said a big deal about leaving.

He had decided to step down from his Test captaincy after India’s 2–1 loss to South Africa earlier this year. Kohli revealed that he was mentally unwilling to take the team forward. At the same time, he told that the only support he got was from his former captain MS Dhoni.

“When I left Test captaincy, I got a message from only one person with whom I had played in the past. He was MS Dhoni. Many people have my number, many people suggest me, many people talk. About my game on TV. But people who had my number, I didn’t get messages from anyone except Dhoni,” Kohli said at a post-match press conference in Dubai on Sunday.

Kohli, still on the hunt for his first international century since November 2019, indicated that Dhoni is the only person with whom he feels a deep connection in the world of Indian cricket.

“You have respect, you have a real connection with some people and it seems (Dhoni messaged him). It’s a two-way security, I don’t want anything from them and they don’t want anything from me.” Kohli who has faced a lot of criticism from former Indian players for being lean with the bat for a long period of time.

“All I want to say is, if I have to tell someone about their game, I reach out in person. Even if I have to reach out to them, I do it in person. If you are giving any suggestion in front of the whole world. , it doesn’t matter much to me. If you have to suggest me something then you can talk to me one by one. You really want me to be good Do it,” he said.

“I’m not saying it doesn’t matter to me. I played my cricket honestly. As long as I play, I’ll play my game honestly.”
