Lewis Hill batted well and hit 50 at the top of the order for the Leicestershire Foxes. But apart from him, only two other batsmen reached double digits, due to which the team could score only 135 runs. On the other hand, Steven Croft’s partnership with Phil Salt put on 81 runs for the second wicket and Lancashire. So far Lancashire have not lost a single match in the Vitality Blast, but did have a tie with Yorkshire.

David Lloyd made his best score of the tournament but his effort was not enough for Glamorgan to beat Gloucestershire. His 68 was powerful and stylish and when he was dismissed for 105/2 in the 13th over, Glamorgan looked set for a decent total. He could only manage 158 runs and James Bracey of Gloucestershire played an excellent innings of 63 runs. He was assisted for a long time by Glenn Phillips, and by the time both were dismissed, the match was in Gloucestershire’s grasp.

Chasing 151 runs, Northamptonshire Steelbacks lost Chris Lynn on the first ball. But the team had nothing to worry about: Josh Cobb took the responsibility of winning the match. The Steelbacks skipper played a brilliant knock of 70 off just 43 balls, hammering away most of the runs by the end of the 12th over, setting his team up for an easy victory.

The third match of Vitality Blast was played between Gas Hampshire and Middlesex. It looked like the match was played on a different pitch, so Hampshire’s innings was in stark contrast to hosts Middlesex’s innings as Australian Ben McDermott scored 83 runs in just 30 balls to guide Hampshire to a nine-wicket win.

It was a disappointing evening for Kent. Batting first, Kent had lost four wickets for 17 runs. Alex Blakes and Kais Ahmed took some control of the innings but in the end the team could manage only 130 runs which were chased by Essex with 21 balls to spare. Essex’s bowling group was brilliant, with Michael Pepper hitting 50 off 29 balls as the team easily won the match.
