Watson Shares His Thoughts on Historic Pakistan vs Australia Series
Former Australia allrounder Shane Watson is looking forward to seeing his former team break a 24-year sabbatical and return to Pakistan to play Test cricket next month.
Shane Watson is certain about the significant impact of this test series I world cricket. These two sides are top test playing sides with talented and experienced players.
Australia will visit Pakistan for the first time since 1998 to play a three-match Test series. Watson anticipates an action-packed series with crucial ICC World Test Championship points on the line.
Australia has picked an 18-man team for the series, including untested quicks. Mark Steketee was just recruited into the team to replace the injured Michael Neser. Uncapped paceman Brendan Doggett is still on the bench in case of another injury.
The Australians have also sent three spinners on tour. Leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson and left-armer Ashton Agar have joined the test match specialist off-spinner Nathan Lyon.
During his time in the episode of The ICC Review, Shane Watson stated, “I am super excited as I know how much the Pakistan people have been starved of cricket.”
“They are so cricket obsessed and love nothing more than watching Pakistan play and especially live cricket at home. I was fortunate to play a few Pakistan Super League’s over there and it was one of the most amazing experiences I have had in my life.”
It is brilliant that Cricket Australia have gone to great lengths to make sure they have got all the information they need to make sure the players’ minds are at ease around the security side of things, so it is going to be a brilliant series,” he further added.
A couple of Australian players were around 1 or 2 years old when the last time Australia visited Pakistan. Both teams have a number of young players who have the potential to give outstanding performances.
It will be a challenge for Australians to adapt to the conditions in Pakistan. They are not acquainted with it.
In the talk, Shane Watson was asked who have the edge in this series to which he replied, “My gut is telling me Australia will win the series if they score enough runs, as I believe their bowlers will be good enough to put the Pakistan batters under a lot of pressure.”
