Wayne Rooney, a Manchester United star, has advised the club to transfer wantaway striker Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Ronaldo has requested to leave Old Trafford. However, Erik ten Hag says that the Portuguese superstar is still part of his plans.

Current DC United manager Rooney, who played with Ronaldo for five seasons during the 37-year-first old’s term at Old Trafford, believes the Red Devils should look to the future with a younger option up front.

Rooney stated, ‘I think United should let Cristiano Ronaldo go.’ ‘It’s not that Ronaldo can’t play for Ten Hag. He is capable of playing for any squad. Ronny will always score goals for you’.

‘However, in my opinion, United are not yet ready to contend for the title, so the goal must be to construct a club capable of winning the league in the next three to four years, and you must plan for that.’

‘If the rumours are accurate that Cristiano wants to leave the club, then United should let him go and bring in a No. 9 who will be there for the next three or four years and really help them develop a successful squad.’ Ten Hag must be allowed sufficient time to complete the task.’

Red Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko, 19, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as talks between United officials and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes continue.

The Portuguese international missed the majority of the club’s preseason due to a family matter, although he did play the first half of their final friendly against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.

However, he and several other players left Old Trafford 10 minutes before the end of the game, which Ten Hag called ‘inappropriate.’

Ronaldo has declared himself fit to play against Brighton this afternoon, after his manager said ‘we’ll see’ when asked if he will play in the team’s season opener.
