West Ham has reportedly set their sights on signing Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, although the Toffees have slapped a £60million price tag on the striker.

Calvert-Lewin has had an injury-hit campaign, which has seen him feature just six times in the Premier League.

However, he was at the top of his game the last term, scoring 16 league goals under Carlo Ancelotti to force his way into England’s squad for the European Championship.

This appears to have been enough to convince West Ham that he could strengthen their attack, and the east London club are ready to make their move for the 24-year-old.

It is understood that the Irons’ owners are prepared to back David Moyes in the transfer market. Still, it has been claimed that they will not follow through on their interest unless Everton drops their asking price.

If Everton does change their stance this month, West Ham could test the waters in the final days of the current transfer window, and they may offer the 11-cap international a bonus if he can fire them into the top four in May.

Should Everton stand firm, though, West Ham may have to wait until the summer before trying to tempt Calvert-Lewin away from Goodison Park.

The Hammers currently only have one recognized forward in Michael Antonio to call upon.

With the side returning to Europa League action next month, there could be a lot of pressure on the Jamaican forward to stay fit between now and the end of the season unless West Ham sign someone to support him in January.

Moyes’ men looked particularly toothless in the final third in their latest outing against Manchester United on Saturday, with Marcus Rashford scoring the only goal of the game in added time to condemn West Ham to a disappointing defeat.
