West Ham United have their sights set on Elland Road and two highly regarded internationals.

West Ham made a bid for both players

The Hammers are looking to set up a Leeds United transfer raid for winger Raphinha and midfielder Kalvin Phillips. West Ham United are looking to strengthen their mid-season squad and have turned their sights towards Elland Road. Both players could raise fees of up to £50m as West Ham are willing to spend big money in pursuit of the top four.

West Ham made bids for both Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips in the final days of the January transfer window. Scottish manager David Moyes would venture to welcome Phillips to east London where he could team up with English colleague Declan Rice in West Ham United’s central midfield. Meanwhile Raphinha is also being targeted by the club, although he has not ruled out a stay at Leeds.

A little about the topic

While Leeds have struggled to repeat their excellent 2020-21 season this round, their midfield pair is enjoying a growing reputation. Kalvin Phillips, who has been with the Whites since the age of 14, was one of the heroes of their promotion campaign two years ago and is now considered one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

He has been rewarded for his consistently impressive performances under Bielsa with a berth in the England squad, making his debut in August 2020 and starting every game on a trip of three lions to the Euro 2020 final last summer. Brazilian footballer Raphinha has also proved a big hit at Elland Road since joining the club from Rennes in 2020.

The winger broke through to the Brazilian side with a flourish last year, and with eight goals in 19 Premier League games to date, he is Leeds’ top scorer. Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips have also been linked with a number of other Premier League clubs over the past year.
