Over the past few years, T20 cricket has become the most popular format of cricket, and not only this, but it has also become a major source of money for Cricketers around the World. The Indian Premier League has been at the forefront as the most cash-rich league in T20 cricket. On the other hand, Australia has the Big Bash League, Pakistan has the Pakistan Super League, the West Indies have the Caribbean Premier League, and countries like South Africa and Bangladesh too have their own franchise cricket leagues.

IPL is criticized by many
IPL has raised the Entertainment level in cricket and has also uncovered many hidden gems for India as well as other countries. Although It has also been criticized by many for luring players away from their national duties with remunerative deals, In countries such as the West Indies, some players have prioritized franchise cricket rather than playing for their country, which has led to huge criticism for these leagues.

West Indies Legend believes  modern-day cricketers deserve such money
Earlier this month, Team India was also criticized after their defeat in the WTC final, and one of the former cricketers also said that the team should have prioritized the WTC over  IPL and sent their players to England two weeks before the final so that they could have practiced on the English conditions. These leagues are criticized by many, but legendary West Indies captain Clive Lloyd believes that modern-day cricketers deserve such money.
In an interview with RevSportz, he said, “These guys know what is their worth , and the IPL is such an important part of their lives, just give them a window so that they can play in the Premier League.” I think a window would be excellent because they are making a good living, and don’t forget that you are giving this game the best part of you and the best days of your life. So why not get paid for it? ” Lloyd also cited an example of NBA and Football stars and stated that When players like Michael Jordan and footballers earn millions per month, no one says anything about it, so why should cricket be any different?
The two-time World Cup-winning Captain also believes that players should prioritize their countries above franchise cricket, and money should not stop them from doing so. He said, “You cannot stop them from playing in these leagues because it gives them a good future, but the point is that they should not forget their country duty because if a country is preparing players and losing half of them for leagues, it is like digging a hole to fill a hole.
