CricketVeteran bowler accuses Indian cricket of arrogance and superiority complex

It’s been four days since India lost the World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval Stadium by 209 runs. The Indian team faced a lot of criticism from many ex-cricketers for their constant faltering in the ICC knockout matches. It has been ten years since the team won an ICC trophy. The team successfully secures their positions in the knockouts but chokes in the crucial matches. After the 2013 Champions Trophy, India squandered eight opportunities to add an ICC trophy to their list, including two WTC finals. The team that has the biggest match-winners in world cricket but still fails to win a major event is still a question many fail to crack.

After the recent defeat, many harsh responses have continued to be given to the team, and now West Indies veteran fast bowler Andy Roberts has also criticized the team’s performance and accused them of being arrogant and overconfident.
Robert, who was one of the greatest fast bowlers of his time, stated that India needed to get their priorities straight. The 72-year-old said that it is arrogance that has crawled into Indian cricket, and because of this, India has underestimated the rest of the world. They should decide what their focus should be: test cricket or limited cricket.
The veteran further stated that he expected India to show their batting prowess, and although Ajinkya Rahane fought tenaciously, the rest of the team didn’t perform. Shubman Gill looks nice when he plays shots but often gets dismissed as he stands on leg stump. He uses his hands well, but he needs to get behind the ball. On the other hand, Virat Kohli was caught badly by Mitchell Starc in his first inning. India has some great players, but they haven’t performed their best outside home”.

Australia dominated the WTC final

In the very first innings of the final, Australia showed their strength as they scored 469 runs, and India was given a big score to trail. Under great pressure, the team managed to put only 296 runs on the board. In the second inning, the team had a gigantic total of 444 runs to chase.
There was a glimmer of hope when Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane ended day 4 with a score of 164/3, but the next day, Australia began its dominance again and ended the match within the first session.
