West Indies vs England Third Test will surely end with a result. The England team struggled on Day 1 and was bundled out for 207 runs. West Indies, too, struggled on day 2. However, the lower order showed some defiant resistance and have already scored 28 runs lead.

In the first innings, England’s batting order collapsed rapidly and were 9 for 114. From thereon, Saqib Mahmood and Jack Leach established a historical 90 runs partnership for the 10th wicket.

It looked like the English team would get all out under 140 but Jack Leach and Saqib Mahmood took over the innings. Both shared a 90-run partnership for the 10th wicket.

West Indies were 95 for 6 and it looked that England would succeed in restricting West Indies under 150. The 7th wicket fell on 128 when Kyle Mayers was out. However, after that, two successive 48 runs and 55 runs partnership brought West Indies back in the game.

In the first innings, Mahmood was dismissed in the last over of the day. He missed out on scoring a half-century by one run. Jermaine Blackwood’s ball hit his bat and went through the wickets. Jack Leach remained unbeaten on 41.

Saqib Mahmood was the team’s top scorer in the first innings. Alex Lees, who came as opener, scored 31 runs. England had their last hopes with Saqib and Leach. Saqib, who played at the 11th number, scored 49 runs.

This has happened after 137 years in Test history when the number 10 and 11 batsman scored more runs than the other nine batsmen. This happened in 1885. Then England’s Tom Garrett and Edwin Evans scored more runs than other batsmen in the innings while playing at 10th and 11th order against Australia.

Talking about the Test against West Indies, six batsmen could not touch the double figure in the first innings. Captain Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow could not even open the account.

Saqib Mahmood and Jack Leach were followed by Alex Lees (31), Chris Woakes (25), Craig Overton (14), Daniel Lawrence (eight), Ben Fox (7), Jack Crowley (7) and Ben Stokes (two). Jaden Seals took the highest three wickets for West Indies. Kemar Roach, Kyle Meyers and Alzarri Joseph took two wickets each. Jermaine Blackwood had a breakthrough.
