Neymar is on the verge of signing a new PSG contract as a return to Barcelona appears dead and the Premier League doesn’t appeal.
In the nearing days, Neymar will end a rocky few months with some good news. He will sign a new four-year contract at Paris St-Germain worth hundreds of millions tying him to a place where he finally seems content.
Finally, some stability for the superstar who will never escape the spotlight has been achieved. The reason being, every summer since Neymar’s arrival in Paris, the talk has been of a move back to either Barcelona or play for Real Madrid.
And, recently, he lost a Champions League final with PSG and was criticized for his off-the-field behavior. Even this week ahead of his 29th birthday, there have been more talks of partying in a pandemic although he is adamant it won’t happen again.
With that said, it seems that Paris is his new home now. Real Madrid and Barcelona can’t afford to buy big although Neymar says his motivation comes from a belief he will win the Champions League at PSG.
He said, “I’m not motivated by defeats but by the victories that I once conquered in my life and career. I know what it’s like to win a Champions League and I am sure that I will reach once again. The final with PSG”.
Could the Premier League have an option?
Manchester City and Chelsea are the only Premier League clubs with the real spending power to bring Neymar away from the Parc des Princes.
But, as the Brazilian says, England has a little draw for a player who has complained of rough challenges in Ligue1.
“I do not get to watch a lot of the Premier League. But, I have heard that there’s a lot of physical contacts involved in the game. But the French League also has too much physical contact”. Added Neymar.
It is clear that the star loves London with the regular partying in the capital during his holidays in the past. He puts it, “it’s one of the cities that I love most in the world because of its culture. Paris too may be one day. I could never say for sure about living in London”.
Back to football, PSG is not at the top of the Ligue 1 following a rocky end of 2020 that saw Tuchel sacked on Christmas Eve.
Former Spurs coach, Pochettino is the new man in charge. But regardless, Neymar has glittered when he’s needed to.
