Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi will not play the role at the King Power Stadium due to an injury setback.

A little about the topic

The 25-year-old will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign with an injury, PL member Leicester City has confirmed. Wilfred Ndidi suffered a knee injury in the club’s 2-1 loss to Rennes in a Europa League clash – and was subsequently replaced by James Maddison at the hour mark. That knock saw the 25-year-old excluded from the just-concluded 2022 World Cup playoffs – where Nigeria fell through against Ghana. Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford to meet Man Utd, Leicester’s manager revealed that former Genk star would play no part in the remainder of the current campaign.

What did Brendan Rodgers say?

According to the Leicester City website, Brendan Rodgers said that Wilfred Ndidi will unfortunately be out for the season, which is a shame for them, but he will be ready for next season. According to Rodgers, this is unfortunate. Ndidi has been a brilliant player for him in his time here. Ndidi suffered a horrendous injury which he had to undergo and will recover by June.

Wilfred has been a consistent performer since joining the Belgian club. In his absence, Senegalese international Papy Mendy – who was left out of Leicester’s starting XI due to Wilfred’s brilliant form – will now seek inspiration alongside Ivory Coast prospect Wesley Fofana. Brendan Rodgers added that on the other hand, Papy Mendy came in and did a great job and it was a shame.

They thought he was leaving in the summer, he wasn’t in the squad and he didn’t actually play much during the first half of the season outside of international games. He did great in Senegal, he’s back but he’s always been a brilliant pro so they’re recruiting a player in him and he’s done very, very well since he’s back in the squad.

According to Brendan, players are starting to come back now, which is great. Evans will be available whether he plays the whole game or not, or starts or retires from the bench they see. It’s great to have him back, he had 60 minutes for the international team and he looks really, really good so they’re going to have to step it up. Fofana will also be back. They are starting to bring players back.

Man City is currently ranked 10th in PL magazine with 36 points from 27 matches. A victory over the Liverpool Devils will see them move up the balance beam in their quest to secure a spot in Europe next season.
