Will MS Dhoni continue playing in IND T20 League?

4-time IND T20 League winners Chennai coach Stephen Fleming has given a big statement about MS Dhoni after the 41st match against Punjab at Chepauk. Former Kiwi captain and head coach of Yellow Army has rubbished reports that Dhoni will retire after IND T20 League 2023.

According to Stephen Fleming, ‘MS Dhoni has not given any indication regarding retirement’. The former left-handed batter hopes that Dhoni will not retire after IND T20 League 2023 as he can still play 1-2 years more.

Currently, there is a lot of talk going ahead of Dhoni’s retirement. And many believe this could be his last season in domestic cricket for Chennai in the yellow jersey. The 41-year-old wicket-keeper batter has achieved almost everything in this colossal league.

In the ongoing IND T20 League Chennai slipped to fourth slip in the points table after losing to Punjab last night at Chepauk while defending 201 runs against Dhawan’s red army.

Dhoni did not indicate

Stephen Fleming said, “41-year-old wicket-keeper batter Thala has not said anything about retirement in Chennai’s dressing room”. Although Dhoni talked about his retirement in a very subtle way.

After the match against Kolkata at Eden Gardens on the 33rd league match day, The about to be 42-year-old soon said that the fans would have come to bid him farewell in the yellow jersey at the Gardens. In an Interview, Fleming said, ‘Dhoni has not given any indication regarding retirement’.

The Whistle Podu’s captain MS Dhoni is in excellent form in the 16th season of the Indian T20 League. In the 16th edition of the league, he is scoring runs with a strike rate of over 200. In this season, the wicket-keeper batter has collected 74 runs in 6 innings of 9 matches of the league so far while batting at the lower order while remaining not out 5 times.

Meanwhile, Dhoni’s highest score was 32 not out which came against Rajasthan which he almost won against the Pink Army. Dhoni has smashed 2 fours and 8 sixes so far in the tournament. During this, the strike rate of  Dhoni has been 211.42.

It’s been almost three years, since the 3-time International Trophy winner for India, Dhoni announced his retirement from International Cricket on 15 August 2020 at the age of 38. Exactly a year before this i.e. every time since the 2019 IND T20 League season.
