The Indian team has now reached number three in the latest points table of the World Test Championship. Australia is at number one and South Africa is at number three. Pakistan’s team has slipped two places to number four.
After the end of the Test series between Australia and Pakistan, the Pat Cummins-led Australian team has 72 points. Australia is at the top of the list with 75 percentile. South Africa have 36 points, however, their percentile is 60, so they are at the second despite having less match points than India.
India has 77 marks and its percentile is 58.33. Pakistan has 44 points, while its percentile is 52.38. India has already played 12 matches which is equal to England who are at the bottom of the list. Australia has only played 8 matches while Pakistan has played only 7 matches.
In the last Test match of the series played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Australia won the toss and elected to bat. They scored 391 runs in 133.3 overs in the first innings. Pakistan was all out for 268 runs in 116.4 overs in the second innings.
Australia declared their second innings at 227 for three on the fourth day of the match. Pakistan got a target of 351 runs to win. However, in the second innings, Pakistan could manage only 235 runs in 92.1 overs for the loss of 10 wickets. Thus Australia won the match by 115 runs. This is Australia’s third Test series win out of nine in Pakistan.
Pat Cummins took 8 wickets for Australia in the third test match. Apart from him Mitchell Starc took 5 and Nathan Lyon took 6 wickets. A wicket came from Cameron Green. For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah took 5-5 wickets in the match.
At the same time, Nauman Ali managed to take 2 wickets. After the Test series, a 3-match ODI series is to be played between Australia and Pakistan from March 29. After that the only T20 match will be played on 5th April.
