In the fourth Ashes Test against England, Khawaja made a spectacular comeback, scoring centuries in both the innings. He scored 137 and 101* runs in that match played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
With two centuries in the Ashes Test, Khawaja became the ninth player to achieve the feat. Khawaja became only the third player to score centuries in both innings of a Test match at the SCG.
Khawaja has been in excellent form in the current Test series against Pakistan. He scored 97 runs in the first test and played 160 and 44* in the second test.
In the first innings of the third Test, Khawaja scored 91 runs in 219 balls. He scored an unbeaten 104 in the second innings of the third Test. Overall, in this series, he has scored 496 runs in five innings of three matches at an average of 165.33.
Khawaja is currently the second highest run-scorer in WTC 2021-23. He has scored 751 runs in five Tests this season at an astonishing average of 125.16. Meanwhile, he has scored four centuries and two half-centuries.
He is only behind England’s Joe Root (1,170) in terms of runs scored in the second round of the World Test Championship (WTC). Apart from this, he is one of three players to score more than 600 runs.
In a career spanning over a decade, Khawaja has scored 3,638 runs in 49 Tests at a remarkable average of 47.24. Meanwhile, he has scored 12 centuries and 16 half-centuries.
He has scored 992 runs in nine Tests against Pakistan at an average of 99.20. Pakistan is Khawaja’s favourite team in terms of runs. Second to Pakistan, he has scored 882 runs against England.
