ICC Women’s World Cup 2022

The dream of the Indian team reaching the semi-finals was shattered when Deepti Sharma bowled a no ball. Team India led by Mithali Raj suffered a three-wicket defeat at the hands of South Africa in the last league match.

With this defeat, the Indian team also missed out on reaching the semi-finals and was eliminated from the tournament.

With the defeat of Team India, the West Indies team reached the semi-finals. She finished fourth in the points table.

With India’s defeat and the end of the last league match, the four semi-finalists of the Women’s World Cup 2022 have also been decided. Australia and South Africa had already reached the semi-finals and today England and then the West Indies team also reached the knockouts.

The match went down to the wire. South Africa had a wonderful start despite losing an early key wicket of Leez. The underperformer throughout the series Lara Goodall showed some flowing batting style along with classy Laura Wolvaardt.

Until 25 overs, India looked desperate for wickets and runs were coming off the bats of these two easily. However, in the 27th over, the experienced Gaikwad gave India the slightest chance to make a comeback by dismissing Goodall.

A couple of overs later, Kaur dismissed Wolvaardt and India was back in the game. The only thing that troubled India was the momentum that South Africa had. Even after losing wickets on successive instances, they kept building key partnerships.

The ball was spinning under the lights and South Africa was in serious trouble when Kapp was run out in the 46th over leaving SA to score 45 runs in the last 5 overs.

The power hitter Chloe Tryon turned the match upside down in two overs scoring 17 off 9 balls. At the time, arduously batting Du Preez looked settled at the one end and smashed a couple of fours.

South Africa kind of habitually enjoy close encounters. Du Preez has been a consistent performer throughout the tournament. and the fact, it you remain calm in the moments of ups and downs and let it pass, surely, you will get close and that’s what South Africa.

The no ball by Deepti Sharma was the most unexpected thing in the last over if not the wicket of Du Preez. But it’s all part of the game, it can be brutal to you for the minuest mistake you do.
