Yuzvendra Chahal creates a new record in T20 cricket
In the 5th match of IPL 2022, Sunrisers Hyderabad faced the wrath of Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday. Yuzvendra Chahal played his first match for Rajasthan Royals, till last season he was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team.
Chahal performed brilliantly in this match, taking 22 runs in four overs and took three wickets. With these three wickets, he also touched the 250-wicket mark in T20 cricket.
Before Yuzvendra Chahal, only Piyush Chawla, R. Ashwin and Amit Mishra have been able to do this for India. Chahal achieved this feat in the 226th T20I match of his career.
Yuzvendra Chahal has taken these wickets while playing for Haryana, India, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals. He came to bowl after the powerplay, at the time, the SRH team was already done and dusted.
Yuzvendra Chahal showed the way to the pavilion to Abhishek Sharma, Abdul Samad and Romario Shepherd. He completed 250 wickets in T20 with the wicket of Romario Shepherd.
The world record for most wickets in T20 cricket is held by Dwayne Bravo, who has taken 574 wickets. Imran Tahir is at number two with 451 wickets. Piyush Chawla has taken the most T20 wickets for India. Chawla has taken a total of 270 T20 wickets, while R Ashwin has 264 T20 wickets in his account.
Before IPL 2022, there was a silent criticism about Chahal’s form in bowling. Something similar was the story with Kuldeep Yadav. He, too, performed exceptionally well and took three wickets against Mumbai Indians.
A few years ago, Chahal was said to be a T20 specialist. Definitely, he is because he is a courageous bowler who doesn’t look to pass out his over economically but he rather tries to attack and take wickets.
T20 can be a cruel game for leg spinners. Especially, under the conditions of dew with short boundaries. In Rajasthan Royals, Yuzvendra Chahal will find support from the team to go according to his plans rather than fitting in the frame according to the team captain.
