Zidane wants players contracts to be sorted quickly

Zinedine Zidane spoke ahead of Saturday’s clash between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo. The coach urged to sort out the contract situations of his players as soon as possible. Players with contracts that expire in the summer can start negotiations with other clubs, so Zidane wants renewals to come quickly. “We want them to be sorted quickly in these cases,” he said when asked about Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez and Sergio Ramos. “It’s for the good of everyone that situations are sorted out quickly.” He didn’t want to talk about David Alaba or other players that Real Madrid could sign. “We already have a large squad, and we are just thinking about tomorrow’s game,” he said. “Tomorrow, we are facing a good team, and they are playing well. They have an excellent player in the form of Iago Aspas, who is spectacular.”

When asked about Atletico Madrid and whether they are the favourites to win LaLiga this year, he was vague. “They are in first and have a lead, but that’s all,” the Frenchman replied. “I don’t think it will be just a head to head title race between them and us. It’s a very open title race.” Zidane also said he hopes 2021 is the year of Eden Hazard. “We are confident in him,” Zidane said. “He’s had a tough time, but we are convinced that he can help us. He came here to show what he can do. We will little by little see him back with us. Zidane also spoke about his future at the club. “It’s a job that wears you out, but I love this job, and I enjoy it,” he said. “I don’t know what the future holds, but I just enjoy every moment.”

“My wish for the year? For there to be no injuries, for us to try to win titles and for those who are suffering to have a better time.”
