Zidane is happy with Real Madrid’s performance

Zinedine Zidane was pleased with the reaction of his players against Sevilla after two consecutive defeats against Alaves and Shakhtar Donetsk in LaLiga and the Champions League, respectively. The Frenchman welcomed his men’s mentality throughout the challenging play against the strong side at Estadio Ramon Sánchez-Pizjuan. “There are three essential points, but more important is the game we played,” Zidane said in his post-match press conference. “Our first half was perfect, and we earned three points against an excellent opponent. We got over that against a team that is making you difficult at every moment. We are a team with character. It’s true that from time to time, it affects us to play every three days. We never stop playing. We need to fix something. And when we fix them, then we will take more steps forward.”

Everything can be improved – believes the French coach

When asked about the criticism he and his side have received over the past week, Zidane insisted that Real Madrid should continue to try to find consistency. “This is not going to change,” Zidane replied. “We know that when you misbehave, you will be criticized. You have to think positively and nothing else. Keep trying to be consistent, and that is what we are going to be.” Real Madrid have struggled lately with two goals in their last three games, but Zidane was pleased with the opportunities his players created against Sevilla. “We must be happy with the chances we have created,” Zidane said. “And everything can be improved by restoring confidence and regaining tranquillity.

“Today we played very well and suffered, of course, because there is an opponent. We have to believe in what we are doing and congratulate the players because it is not easy to come to Sevilla and win.”
