Zlatan’s national team traveled to Batumi for the game against the Georgian national team. It was an important match for Sweden because of the standings.
Losing the first position in the group
Sweden lost the first position in the groups because of the loss. Spain won the game in the meantime and they got one more point after that big win. Sweden was really good at some point against Georgia and they could score a few goals. First of all, Sweden had a very aggressive attacking line. The coach of Sweden decided to play with the normal 4-4-2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Isak were ready to score many goals against the Georgian national team. In the first half, Sweden started attacking and they wanted to score goals. It was visible that Isak and Zlatan had many moments but they failed. Sweden had 6 shots on target in the first half. It was visible that the away team was very close to opening the score-line.
The second half changed everything
Georgians stepped on the pitch with motivation in the second half. It was visible on their faces, skills and will to score goals. Sweden could not do anything against Georgia’s first big attacking storm. For three minutes consecutively Georgian national team was making shots off and on-target. In just a few minutes, Khvicha Kvarastkhelia scored a goal. He gave a lead to the national team and opened the score-line. Georgian fans became way more confident and footballers were hearing the motivational chants. After the first goal, Georgia went for the second half. With great luck, Kvicha was one-on-one with the goalkeeper of Sweden. Kvaratskhelia scored the second goal and increased the lead. This was the last game for Georgia in the group. They could reach 7 points and 4th position. The coach of the team said that proudly they want to be in a better situation in the next group stage (Euro 2024).
