Bayern Munich‘s president has publicly declared the club’s interest in signing Harry Kane for the first time and described the Tottenham striker as an ‘attractive player’.
Kane has one year left on his Tottenham contract and is keen to move to the Bundesliga champions during the summer transfer window.
However, Daniel Levy has slapped a £100million valuation on the England captain – who is entering into the final year of his Spurs contract.
Nevertheless, Herbert Hainer is eager to secure Kane’s services as he believes the 29-year-old will raise the profile of the Bundesliga giants.
The former chief executive of Adidas described Kane as an ‘attractive player’ that would do Bayern Munich and the German league ‘good’.
‘Here in the Bundesliga we don’t have many international stars any more,’ Hainer told Kicker, the German football magazine earlier this week .
‘Bayern always try to bring in stars. Harry Kane is a highly attractive player, the England captain and a top scorer. He would do us and the Bundesliga good.’
Spurs owner Joe Lewis has told chairman Levy to sell the England captain — who is valued at £100m — if he refuses to sign a new contract.
The England international has one year left on his current deal, meaning he could leave the club for free next summer.
The German champions are favourites to land the 29-year-old – with Bayern expected to make a third bid for the striker following Tottenham’s pre-season tour.
Thomas Tuchel’s side had their previous bids of £60m and an improved bid of £70m rejected by the Premier League giants.
However, Bayern are still confident as German news outlet said that Kane’s family had been in the German city ‘in the past few days to look at international schools and properties’.
Kane’s arrival in German would be a boost for the Bundesliga – who lost Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid and Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.
However, the transfer would come as a blow to Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou has made it clear how difficult the ongoing saga has been.
‘It’s fair to say I’m not relaxed about it,’ he said. ‘I know that every time I am talking to [the press], or whenever Harry is going to talk, that’s the first question you are going to get.
‘So you’ve got to deal with it. And I think, for everyone concerned, we don’t want to be doing it for too long. I don’t think that is good for anyone.
‘I don’t think it is good for Harry, I don’t think it is good for the club, because as laser-focused as we want to be, you end up repeating yourself along the way.’
