Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ‘spoken directly’ to Sofyan Amrabat as he looks to beat Man United in the race to sign the midfielder.

The Reds have been looking to bring in fresh midfield talent this summer but were pipped to the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both favoured a move to rivals Chelsea.

However, Klopp could now be set to win a transfer tussle of his own. It is claimed that Amrabat will ignore the advances of Manchester United to sign for Liverpool.

The outlet suggest that the Liverpool boss has managed to win over the Moroccan international in talks, and that the 26-year-old now has his heart set on a move to Anfield.

Amrabat has been linked with a move to United since impressing at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as Morocco upset the odds to reach the semi-finals.

The defensive midfielder, who only has a year remaining on his current contract, was also a key component of the Fiorentina team that reached the Europa Conference League final at the end of last season.

Morocco head coach Walid Regragui hinted in June that his talisman would be ‘signing with a new club soon’ amid interest from United and Bayern Munich.

However, with the transfer window now coming to a close and a move not yet completed, Liverpool’s need for a midfielder could make them Amrabat’s most likely destination.

The Reds are also on the verge of sealing a deal for Stuttgart’s Japanese international Wataru Endo as they adjust to the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

On Wednesday night, the Reds had submitted a surprise £16m bid for Stuttgart’s 30-year-old midfielder.

Endo, the combative Japan captain, is well known to Liverpool sporting director Jorge Schmadtke and can also play at centre-back. He is due on Merseyside for a medical.
