In the eliminator played between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium, LSG lost the match by 81 runs, while Mumbai heads on to the qualifier 2 going to be played tonight in Ahmedabad against Gujarat. The fierce right-arm medium-fast bowler of Afghanistan, Naveen-ul-Haq, was the star performer for the team as he took four important wickets by giving 38 runs. Mumbai set a target of 182 runs, and in return, LSG could only score 101 runs. A sensational spell of 5/5 from MI’s 29-year-old bowler Akash Madhwal led MI to the win.

LSG took measures

After this defeat, LSG is facing many trolls, which are particularly directed at Naveen, who celebrated his wickets by shutting his ears and closing his eyes, which is a gesture done by KL Rahul the previous year in the IPL after making a century for LSG. On Thursday, the franchise posted a photo on their official Twitter handle that said that they have taken a few measures to shield themselves from the hate and trolling. The post was a screenshot of terms that they have blocked from their Twitter mentions, along with the caption “Issued in our interest”.

Naveen made many headlines

Naveen has made a lot of headlines this season, besides his outstanding performances. In the match against RCB, he had a conflict with their bowler Mohammad Siraj and then Virat Kohli, which turned into a huge spat later that day. After the match ended, while shaking hands, Naveen and Kohli were seen arguing again, which led to LSG’s mentor, Gautam Gambhir, and Kohli’s faceoff.

Naveen’s “Mango” post

After that game, wherever LSG’s matches were held, Kohli chants could be heard by the crowd, specifically during Naveen’s over. After this, Naveen posted a photo of mangoes during RCB vs MI match and wrote “sweet mangoes”. He posted another photo later when Kohli was dismissed at 1 run, writing round 2 with the mangoes. Fans considered this a dig at Virat Kohli.

LSG faced trolls

After all this controversy, LSG and Naveen have been facing a lot of backlash from Kohli’s fans, which increased after LSG’s eliminator defeat. After the match, MI players Sandeep Warrier, Vishnu Vinod, and Kumar Kartikeya also posted a photo on Instagram where they imitated the three wise monkeys staring at mangoes on the table. The caption of the photo was “Sweet season of mangoes”, but the post was deleted by Warrior a few minutes later.
