Skipper Babar Azam and opener Imam-ul-Haq both scored a half-century as Pakistan reached 275-8 in the second-day, one-day international at Multan Friday, thrashing a few disciplined West Indian bowlers. West Indies faltered in their innings with Mohammed Nawaz while Pakistan recorded a commanding victory by 120 runs in their second ODI on Friday. On a slower wicket with gripping and spinning balls, Mohammad Nawaz bagged a career-best 10-19-4 to dismiss West Indies for 155 with more than 17 overs remaining.

Shamar Brooks scored a career-high 42, while Kyle Miles added 33 off pace, before Nawaz ran through the top order to hand Pakistan a commanding 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Home side Pakistan blanked West Indies 3-0 in a T20I series played prior to postponement of ODIs. The last time the two sides met in a bilateral fifty-overs international was in September 2016, when Pakistan hosted the West Indies in the UAE for a three-match series. Pakistan is set to host West Indies for a three-match ODI series at Multan, in an environment where the country is reeling from political uncertainty and a hot weather.

In PAK vs WI 2nd ODI, PAK scored 275 runs to edge out WI by losing eight wickets in 50 overs based on half centuries by Imam-ul-Haq (72) and Babar Azam (77). PAK won the toss and elected to bat first in PAK vs WI 2nd ODI, but Fakhar Zaman once again failed to provide the team with a good start. It was an unbeaten 15 by Shaheen Afridi from 6 balls which made the difference, after Pakistan were 230 for 7 at the end of 45 overs. With their dismissals, West Indies took five wickets for 20 runs in 23 balls to derails Pakistan, with spinners Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph (2-33) sharing the spoils.

Babar shared the fourth straight century partnership at the Odi with Imam-ul-Haq (72) but just as the match looked set to slip away from West Indies, Imam was run out of a scuffle with his skipper. Babar Azzam led the home team to a 2-1 series win against Australia in the final ODI allocation for Pakistan, which began in late March this year. A three-match ODI series was part of West Indies Nicholas Poorans White-Ball tour to Babar Azam-led Pakistan in December last year, however, the 50-overs series was delayed after three T20Is that saw then-Kieron Pollard and co. fall to then- by 3-0. Performance-wise, Pakistan looked extremely settled, and may look to take fresh legs against the Windies.
