Pat Cummins Swings Hard

Pat Cummins has scored the fastest fifty in IPL history. Yes, you read that right. A world class bowler by trade, surely, he has surprised a number of top order batsmen who struggled to keep up with 100% strike rate in the same match.

Pat Cummins equaled KL Rahul’s record who scored 14 ball 50 in 2018. The former hit a 14-ball fifty against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday. On the other hand. Rahul scored a 14-ball half-century against Delhi Capitals in 2018. The big difference is that KL Rahul is proper top order batsman while Pat Cummins is a bowler who played his first match of the IPL 2022 season.

Cummins hit four fours and six sixes in his 15-ball innings. Subsequently, he scored 56 not out. During this innings, the strike rate of Cummins stood at 373.33. He scored 35 runs in an over against Daniel Sams. As it looked from the first ball, he came to plunder and surely he did in less than the given time.

When Pat Cummins came out to bat, Kolkata required 61 runs in 41 balls to win. He hit Tymal Mills for a six off the fifth ball in the 14th over. After this, the next ball was mis hit for a four. The man on mission didn’t spare Bumrah who hindered from his line and lengths Nd received adequate punishment. Pat Cummins hit sixes and fours in the 15th over off Jasprit Bumrah.

After Bumrah’s over, Kolkata needed to score 35 runs to win in five overs. Daniel Sams comes in to bowl the unfortunate over.

Pat Cummins hit a six off the first ball, a four on the second ball, a six off the third ball, and a six off the fourth ball. After this, the fifth ball Sams bowled a no-ball. A total of three runs were scored on this. Sams had to redo the fifth ball. Cummins hit a four on this. He won the match by hitting a six off the last ball.

In the match, Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mumbai Indians scored 161 for four in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 52 runs, Tilak Verma scored 38, Devald Brevis 29 and Kieron Pollard scored 22 runs.

Pat Cummins took two wickets for Kolkata. While chasing, Kolkata won the match by scoring 162 runs for five wickets in 16 overs. Cummins significantly scored 56 in an entertaining chase. Also, Venkatesh Iyer played an unbeaten innings of 50 runs.
