Raheem Sterling is reportedly keen to remain at Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

After a seven-year stint with Manchester City, Sterling made the decision to take on a new challenge at the end of the last campaign, subsequently linking up with Chelsea.

Despite costing £47.5m, the 28-year-old has largely underwhelmed during his first campaign at Stamford Bridge, contributing to the club’s dismal 2022-23.

Although Sterling has nine goals and four assists from 36 appearances, the England international has produced too many ineffective performances.

While Sterling holds a long-term contract with the West Londoners, it has been perceived that his future is up for debate due to the uncertainty at Chelsea.

On Saturday evening, it was widely reported that more clarity would soon come with Mauricio Pochettino said to have agreed terms to become Chelsea’s next head coach.

Given the club’s weak position with FFP, high squad numbers and lack of European football for next season, the Argentine will need to significantly reduce his crop of players.

However, Sterling has no intention of indicating that he is open to an exit during the upcoming transfer window.

The report suggests that the attacker is excited about the prospect of playing a part in the club’s rebuild under Pochettino.

Such a stance may suit Chelsea with a greater need to sell players who are out of favour or are entering the final 12 months of their respective contracts.

Sterling has another four years left on his terms, and the expectation is that he will feature in Pochettino’s plans for his first campaign.

On Saturday afternoon, Sterling produced one of his most notable showings in a Chelsea shirt, netting a double in the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Those two quick-fire goals in the second half ended a four-and-a-half month wait for a top-flight strike, his previous effort having come on New Year’s Day.
