Rohit Sharma Is Captaining Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians went through another devastating night at the Pune Cricket stadium. It was 23rd match of IPL 2022, Mumbai Indians faced its 5 consecutive defeat. Even though Mumbai Indians lost this match, but captain Rohit Sharma touched a milestone while batting.
He was seen in a very good rhythm against Punjab Kings, but he could not play a big innings. He scored 28 runs in 17 balls. Throughout this IPL, he has started well but failed to convert his innings into a big score.
However, for this match, his 28 runs were enough to elevate him to the list of 10000 T20 runs milestone. With this, Rohit Sharma completed 10000 runs in T20 cricket. He touched 10000 runs mark runs in 362 innings. On the other hand, ex RCB skipper Virat Kohli did this in 299 innings. That is, he took 63 innings more than Kohli. Rohit reached 10 thousand runs by hitting a six off fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. Unfortunately, a couple of balls later KG Rabada bagged the wicket of Rohit Sharma.
He has become the second Indian batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. Virat Kohli is the first and fastest Indian batsmen to cross 10,000 runs mark. Also, Rohit has become the seventh batsman in the world to do so. Rohit Sharma is famous for his elegant and aggressive batting style. For last couple of years, he has not been as prolific as he used to be. Currently, he is also captain of Indian side in all three formats.
Mumbai Indians have had a very poor start in IPL 2022. So far, Mumbai has faced defeat in five consecutive matches. There is a big responsibility that Rohit Sharma has to bear to breakout from this unfortunate time. Mumbai has won the IPL title five times under the captaincy of Rohit. In 2015, the team lost 5 matches in a row but came back stronger to lift the trophy.
If it meant to happen then Rohit Sharma will need to break several more records. Now, he has 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.
